Laila Mach
ARTIST BIO:
Listening to Laila Mach’s music is a lot like going through her Notes app. Unfiltered feelings, intimate thoughts, and everything she wants to say will ultimately surface in her songwriting. Instead of just leaving emotions in the cloud though, she projects them as loudly as possible to the world through her open-hearted pop anthems. As such, the New York-born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist effectively speaks her mind and heart without fear, resonating with audiences in the process.
After amassing millions of streams and attracting Republic Records to her corner, she holds nothing back on a series of 2025 singles and much more to come.
“It’s almost as if the songs are coming straight from a diary, journal, or the Notes in my phone,” she affirms. “I always intended for my music to be like that. It’s authentic and different because it’s so personal.”
Laila recognized her musical calling as a kid in the rural town of New Paltz, NY. Growing up in “a huge Italian family,” she learned how to sing as soon as she could speak. By the age of five, she picked up piano and guitar, teaching herself as much as possible. Her palette only expanded later as she added ukulele and trumpet to her creative arsenal. Honing her confidence in theater during middle school, she penned her first song at 15-years-old.
At the onset of the Global Pandemic, Laila’s dad encouraged her to audition for Season 19 of American Idol via ZOOM. In between juggling her sophomore year in high school, she shined by advancing through four rounds, performing in San Diego and Los Angeles. However, the experience just inspired her to keep going. Under the influence of favorites a la JP Saxe, Lizzy McAlpine, and Gracie Abrams, she wrote and recorded solo material.
Taking to TikTok, she built an audience on social media by unveiling “Official Lover” and “Real Tired (Acoustic).” In 2023, “In Secret” surged on TikTok, going mega-viral on the platform. Thus far, it has amassed north of 6.1 million Spotify streams. The tune also caught the attention of Republic Records who signed her.
Along the way, she performed to packed crowds too. She supported Dermot Kennedy on a major tour and even joined him for a special performance at Madison Square Garden.
“Playing live is definitely my favorite thing,” she smiles. “I love the experience of being able to perform my music to people and hearing their live reactions to the songs. It’s the most important thing to me.”
She turned the page on her next chapter with her 2025 debut single for Republic Records “Home.” Produced by David Baron [Matt Maeson, Michael Marcagi], soft piano shudders in the background as lithely strummed guitar chords echo. Showcasing her range, she makes a pledge on the refrain “I’ll build your walls, and I’ll be your home.”
“David helped bring the whole thing to life,” she notes. “It ended up being one of the best things I’ve ever made. It’s about growth and learning how to be okay with loving someone. At the same time, you’re trying to convince the other person to not be scared of loving you back. I was trying to show this theme of this person being like a home to you.”
In the end, Laila makes an impact by sharing herself in the music.
“I want to show people that life gets better,” she concludes. “I’ve always written about heartbreak and difficult feelings. Everything always ends up working out though. You can get over anything you’re going through. I hope my music helps people.”
